CAT 6351 is a 2nd-generation HDMI v.1.3 retiming buffer that supports a
signalling rate of up to 2.25Gbps and the new Deep Color modes. With its
retiming capability and DDC I2C buffer, the CAT6351 is te perfect frontpanel
solution for LCD TVs, where emerging requests of frontpanel HDMI connections are
burgeoning for game consoles such as Sony Playstation 3 and XBOX 360.
As a retiming buffer, the CAT6351 equalizes and recovers incoming TMDS data
before re-transmitting them with optimal quality regardless of the incoming
singal quality. The highly acclaimed equalization technology of Chip Advanced
Technology provides for support of long or low-quality HDMI cables at eventhe
highest speeds. Input terminations of the TMDS inputs and output current levels
are both auto-calibrated. In addtion, input terminations are disconnectable and
hence significantly lower the system power consumption in inactive modes.
The CAT6351 also incorporates DDC I2C repeater, which isolates the DDC
capacitances of the two sides of the buffer. This allows for internal
connections of lower-quality as well as significantly eases the system design to
pass Test ID 8-9:DDC/CEC Line Capacitance and Voltage of the HDMI Compliance
Test.
