ITE takes the lead to launch LPC I/O controller chip of integrated digital temperature-control interface

ITE Tech. Inc., with high market share in PC I/O controller chip, launches the digital temperature-control I/O product IT8718 based on its I/O technology. In addition to the original I/O functions including the advanced smart linear fan control, hardware monitor, noise control, infrared transfer interface, and floppy disk control, it also supports Intel’s latest microprocessor and chipset temperature-detecting interface (PECI、SST).

Following the rapid development of the personal computer, the heating problem resulted from the microprocessor is getting worse so the fan control is becoming important. Therefore, ITE Tech. Inc., launches a brand-new PC I/O controller chip, IT 8718, to support Intel’s latest microprocessor and chipset temperature-detecting interface (PECI、SST). It can enhance the accuracy of the detected temperature to ±1℃ so that users can get the more precise temperature to perfectly control the fan and noise. Additionally, it integrates PC I/O function, successfully reducing the cost for the PC manufactures. Currently both the domestic and overseas motherboard and system corporations had adopted it and they have finished the verification and test production. ITE Tech. Inc. has got the mass production order from customers and is going to ship the order in the end of May in accordance with the launch schedule of Intel’s new type microprocessor. IT8718 will become the main product in the PC I/O market in the second half of 2006.
