IT6264: Single Chip High Speed LVDS to HDMI 2.0 Converter

The IT6264 is a high-performance single-chip De-SSC LVDS to HDMI converter, combined with the high-speed LVDS receiver and HDMI 2.0b transmitter. The IT6264 supports LVDS input and HDMI 2.0b output by conversion function. The built-in high- speed LVDS receiver can support 1/2/4 link and color depth up to 10 bit. In order to reduce the EMI noise on legacy system application, the traditional LVDS source will transmit differential signals with spread spectrum, but this spread spectrum is not allowed for HDMI protocol. The IT6264 also builds in unique De-SSC (De-Spread Spectrum) function, which can help customers easily adopt the IT6264 on the EMI-concerned platform, with SSC generated from LVDS source processors beforehand.


The built-in HDMI transmitter is fully compliant with HDMI 1.4b/2.0b, HDCP 1.4/2.2 and backward compatible with DVI 1.0 specifications. The IT6264 also supports all the HDMI 2.0b 3D mandatory formats which are compliant with HDMI 1.4a 3D Specification. The IT6264 supports up to 4K x 2K@60 with 30-bit (10-bit/color) high-quality uncompressed video content, along with the state-of-the-art uncompressed and compressed digital audio content such as DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD.


As for the video content, YCbCr 4:2:0 pixel encoding and BT.2020 colorimetry defined in HDMI 2.0 are supported by the IT6264, which can be applied to the 4K x 2K formats nowadays. Not only the original 3D video formats but the new defined 3D video extension formats such as 3D Dual-View and 3D Independent View are also supported by the IT6264. With this extension, the 3D video could be used to transmit two independent contents for different applications.


Aside from the various video output formats supported, in HDMI 1.4 environment, the IT6264 also encodes and transmits up to 8 channels of I2S digital audio, with sampling rate up to 192 kHz and sample size up to 24 bits. In addition, an S/PDIF input port takes in compressed audio of up to 192 kHz frame rate, while Super Audio Compact Disc (SACD) is supported through eight DSD (Direct Stream Digital) ports. If the sink supports HDMI 2.0 3D audio capability, the IT6264 can be programmed to transmit audio up to the maximum of 12 channels using six I2S or twelve DSD ports.


The High-Bit Rate (HBR) audio is provided by the IT6264 in two interfaces: with the four I2S input ports or the S/PDIF input port. With I2S interfaces, the highest possible HBR frame rate is supported at up to 1536 kHz.


Each IT6264 chip comes preprogrammed with a unique HDCP key, in compliance with the HDCP 1.4 and HDCP 2.2 standard so as to provide secure transmission of high-definition content. Users of the IT6264 need not purchase any HDCP keys or ROMs.


The IT6264 also provides a complete solution of Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) function. This optional CEC feature of HDMI specification allows users to control two or more CEC-enabled devices through HDMI network. With IT6264's embedded CEC PHY, users can use high-level software API to easily implement all the necessary remote control commands. The CEC bus related protocol is handled by the CEC PHY, which eliminates extra loading of the MCU.
