Conflict Minerals Management

Non- Use of Conflict Minerals Policy

  • Subcontractors are required not to purchase or use conflict minerals (Gold (Au), Tantalum (Ta), Tin (Sn), Tungsten (W), and Cobalt (Co) that sourced from mines in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) or an adjoining country (conflict areas) which are controlled by non-government military groups, or unlawful military factions the coverage on human rights violations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and environmental issues resulting from the extraction of minerals, so as to protect miners’ human right, health, and environment resources.
  • Due Diligence is conducted by using Conflict Minerals Reporting Template and Extended Minerals Reporting Template issued by RMI for ensuring the origin of the five metals approved for use in products, e.g. Au , Ta , Sn , W, and Co.
  • ITE requests its suppliers to disclose the mineral sources and sign Non-Use of Conflict Minerals Declaration, also encourages them to convey above request through their supply chains.

ITE supports the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) and the Global e-Sustainability Initiative (GeSI)‘s “Responsible Minerals Procurement“ proposition. Based on the OECD Due Diligence Guidance and the Responsible Minerals Assurance Process (RMAP), we require suppliers committing to not using conflict minerals of gold (Au), tantalum (Ta), tin (Sn), tungsten (W), and cobalt (Co) that purchased from illegal mines in conflict areas, and sign the "Conflict-Free Minerals Declaration" to protect miners’ human rights, health, and environmental resources in those regions. Every year, suppliers are required to complete Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT) and Extended Minerals Reporting Template (EMRT) to ensure non-conflict minerals in the supply chain. Suppliers must communicate the non-use for conflict minerals policy to their upstream suppliers.

In 2023, we achieved a 100% CMRT and EMRT response rate from suppliers, confirming that all suppliers adopted RMI (Responsible Minerals Initiative) approved smelters, totaling 105 covering 30 countries, ensuring the sources of gold (Au), tantalum (Ta), tin (Sn), tungsten (W) , and cobalt (Co) used in our products are conflict-free and achieving a 100% conflict-free supply chain.
