Water Management
ITE's water supply comes from Taiwan water Corporate, mainly for domestic use. According to the "Aqueduct Water Risk Atlas" issued by the World Resources Institute, all of Taiwan is rated Low-Medium (1-2) risk level, indicating no water withdrawal impact. The main operation base of ITE sits the Hsinchu Science Park. The source of water is the Baoshan Reservoir, without using groundwater or seawater. As we are situated in a low water stress risk area, the percentage of water withdrawal from areas with "high" or "extremely high" level of water stress are zero.
Domestic sewage discharged from Hsinchu headquarters is collected through sewers and centrally converted to the sewage treatment plant of the Science Park. In 2023, total water consumption at the Hsinchu site was 12.216 million liters, an 8.76% increase compared to 2022. In view of the intensifying challenges of climate change and decreasing water resources, we will continue "water conservation" awareness campaigns, implement monthly water consumption monitoring to mitigate water risks, and strengthen management measures.
The increase in water consumption in 2023 was due to facility abnormalities and the implementation of new projects. Hsinchu headquarters introduced a cooling tower system for air conditioning and a sand filter system for cooling water recycling, as well as an exterior lawn irrigation system and facade cleaning measures.
Additionally, two facility abnormalities were identified:
- Air Conditioning Chilled Water System (Hsinchu Chuangsin Office)
Abnormality: Leakage in the chilled water system, with water seeping into walls from the chiller water supply pipes
Improvement Effectiveness: Wall demolition and re-piping resolved the leakage issue
- Municipal Water Pipeline Fac i l i ty (Hsinchu Chuangsin Office)
Abnormality: Rust corrosion at the welding points of the municipal water supply pipes caused perforation and leakage
Improvement Effectiveness: Performed weld reinforcement at the leakage points to resolve the issue
