Product Information

IT6634: 4 IN to 3 OUT HDMI 2.0 18 Gb/s Matrix Switch

The IT6634 is a HDMI 2.0 4 IN to 3 OUT matrix/switch which supports maximum signaling rate up to 6 Gbps/channel. It is compliant with the latest HDMI 2.0b specification and backward compatible with the HDMI 1.4 and DVI specifications. With 6  Gbps/channel capability, the IT6634 can support ultra-high resolution content streams, such as 4K x 2K@50/60 Hz video formats.

All 4 input ports and 3 output ports support HDMI 2.0 data rate up to 18 Gb/s, and the input Port-0 can also support MHL 2.2 at resolution up to 1080P@60 Hz. In addition to the basic pass-through function, the IT6634 supports various data processing functions, such as split function, convert function and audio extract/merge function.

The split function which supports both Odd/Even pixel mode and Left/Right frame mode splits one 18 Gb/s input stream into two 9 Gb/s output streams using output Port-0 and Port-1. The convert function is used to convert the input 420 video format to the 444 or 422 video format that enables the HDMI 1.4 source to transmit 4K x 2K@50/60 Hz video in 420 to downstream HDMI RX without 420 supporting. For the audio content in HDMI/MHL data stream, the IT6634 can extract the audio from one input stream and/or merge the external audio to one output stream using 8-channel I2S/DSD or SPDIF interfaces.

The IT6634 also builds in HDCP 1.4/2.2 hardware engines which can be used to disable the HDCP encryption at output ports or convert HDCP 2.2 to HDCP 1.4 for closed system application. Each IT6634 chip comes preprogrammed with an unique HDCP key, in compliance with the HDCP 1.4/2.2 standard so as to provide secure transmission of high-definition content. Users of the IT6634 need not purchase any HDCP keys or ROMs.

The IT6634 does not only support switch function, i.e. select one of 4 input ports to one output port. But also support matrix routing function, such as select one of 4 input ports HDMI stream out to the one of 3 output ports and select another one of 4 input ports HDMI stream out to the other one of 3 output ports simultaneously. IT6634 supports maximum 3 HDMI stream matrix routing paths, i.e. select three of 4 input port streams out to different three output ports simultaneously.

The IT6634 also provides a complete solution of Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) function. This optional CEC feature of HDMI specification allows the user to control two or more CEC-enabled devices through HDMI network. With IT6634 embedded CEC PHY, users can use high-level software API to easily implement all the necessary remote control commands. The CEC bus related protocol is handled by the CEC PHY which eliminates extra loading of the MCU.
