IT66620: 1-to-4 HDMI/MHL Dual in Active Splitter with EDID RAM
The IT66620 is a one-to-four MHL/HDMI dual-in, HDMI out active splitter that supports a signaling rate of up to 3.0 Gbps. It is compatible with the latest HDMI 1.4 and MHL 2.0 specifications. With 3.0 Gbps capability, the IT66620 can support content stream such as the new 4K x 2K format, 1080P@120 Hz, 3D video with 1080P/3D@60 Hz in HDMI, or 1080P@60 Hz format in MHL. Via IT66620, not only ultra-high definition video content can be split to all its outputs, but newly designed cell phones with MHL output can also be connected to existing HDMI Ports without dedicated MHL to HDMI dongle device.
To achieve a friendly remote control environment, the IT66620 provides a complete solution of HDMI CEC function and MHL RCP function as well. With IT66620’s embedded CEC/RCP hardware, developers could use high-level software API to implement all the necessary remote control commands easily.
The IT66620 equalizes incoming TMDS signal to optimal and outputs retimed data to downstream sinks. The highly acclaimed equalization technology of ITE TECH. INC. provides support of long or low-quality HDMI cables at even the highest speeds. Input terminations of the TMDS inputs and output current levels are both programmable.
An EDID RAM is embedded in IT66620 to save the cost of the external EDID ROMs. The process of downloading the EDID data into the RAM is simplified by firmware programming. Also, each IT66620 chip comes preprogrammed with a unique Source and a Sink HDCP key, in compliance with the HDCP 1.4 standard so as to provide secure transmission of high-definition content. Adopters are not required to purchase any HDCP keys or ROMs.
The IT66620 that operates in software mode allows the system to control it via a two-line serial interface, PCSCL/PCSDA. Two serial programming addresses can be selected by PCADR.
